The four year curriculum is structured and seamless across the traditional boundary between science and technology.
The Department encourages students to come into close contact with faculty members. There are student counselors to advise students on academic and other matters. The department is planning to have its own Professional association, to enable students to learn more about the engineering profession and what is expected of them in real life. Guest lectures and visits to industries are arranged by these professional associations after discussion with the head of the dept and higher authorities. There is an intra departmental Council consisting of students and teachers nominated by the HOD. The council discusses student problems, and suggests solutions to them. Informal contact between students and teachers is also encouraged.
The teaching and non teaching faculty of the department meets on the first Monday of every fort night to discuss matters of common interest. The administrative staff of the college is encouraged to attend these meetings, to enable discussion of pending issues, if any, of members of the dept to be resolved on the spot. These meetings provide an excellent opportunity for both the administrative and teaching staff to interact with each other and appreciate each other’s problems.
The Department has two Software Laboratories, and a Hardware Laboratory, Internet Lab, sufficient number of class rooms, Tutorial rooms, Seminar hall, Staff rooms and Departmental library, and is planning to have separate building by the end of the academic year 2009-10. The Department is having well equipped, and Air conditioned laboratories as per the norms of the JNTU, and AICTE.
